Devereux birdied three holes

KINGSTON SPRINGS, TN – Rider University senior men's golfer Austin Devereux (Brielle, NJ/Manasquan) shot a four-over 75 in the opening round of the NCAA Kingston Springs Regional Monday at The Golf Club of Tennessee.

Devereux's round began with pars on the first two holes, both Par 4's, before a double bogey on the Par 4 third hole pushed him to two-over. He bounced back with a birdie on the Par 3 fourth hole and, following a par on the Par 5 fifth, he got back to even par with a birdie on the Par 4 sixth.

He parred the final three holes of the front nine to make the turn at even par. A birdie on the Par 5 11th hole dipped Devereux under par. But bogeys on the 14th, 15th and 17th holes and a double bogey on the 18th dipped his score to four over on the round.

QUOTES & NOTES

- A three-time All-MAAC performer, Devereux earned an automatic qualifier to the NCAA Regionals by earning medalist honors at the 2021 MAAC Championships.
- Devereux is the first Bronc to compete at NCAA's since William Buzz Costello in 1964.
