Broncs senior shaves two strokes off 1st round score

KINGSTON SPRINGS, TN – Rider University senior men's golfer Austin Devereux (Brielle, NJ/Manasquan) shaved two strokes off his Monday score and shot a two-over 73 in the second round of the NCAA Kingston Springs Regional Monday at The Golf Club of Tennessee. He's now tied for 53rd of 75 players in the field at six over par for the tournament.

Devereux started the round with a birdie on the Par 4 first hole, before running into difficulty with bogeys on the third and fifth and a double bogey on the seventh. He salvaged a two-over 38 at the turn with a birdie on the Par 4 ninth hole. He'd come within a stroke of even par with another birdie on the Par 4 13th, before a bogey on the Par 3 16th put him back at two over.

QUOTES & NOTES
"A couple of loose shots on the front and we rolled the dice on seven and paid the price for it. After that, he really played great. It was tough out there and he hung in and gutted out a solid round. We'll build on the momentum from the last 12 today and play a good one tomorrow." – Rider Head Coach Jason Barry

- A three-time All-MAAC performer, Devereux earned an automatic qualifier to the NCAA Regionals by earning medalist honors at the 2021 MAAC Championships.
- Devereux is the first Bronc to compete at NCAA's since William Buzz Costello in 1964.
