Marist Receives Seeding for 2021 NCAA Division I Rowing Championships

INDIANAPOLIS, IN – Marist College, the 2021 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Women’s Rowing Champion, will compete at the 2021 NCAA Division I Rowing Championships as the 22nd seed in the Varsity Eight, Second Varsity Eight, and Varsity Four as announced Tuesday on the NCAA Selection Show.
 
Marist earned an automatic qualifier to the NCAA Championship after winning their second consecutive MAAC Women’s Rowing Championship on Sunday, May 16, at Cooper River Park in Pennsauken Township, NJ. The Red Foxes finished the day with a perfect 54 points through their victories in the Grand Finals of the Varsity Four (7:58.042), Second Varsity Eight (6:58.534), and Varsity Eight (6:41.274) to capture their 12th conference title in program history.
 
Following the championship, Marist head coach Tom Sanford was named the 2021 MAAC Women’s Rowing Coach of the Year, winning it for the second season in a row. Marist also earned six All-MAAC selections: Sydney Ford, Lydia Giguere, Selena Mildon, Marie Ryden, Olivia Siyahian, and Caroline Voorhis. Five of the six – Ford, Giguere, Mildon, Ryden, and Siyahian – were named to the First Team.

The 2021 NCAA Division I Rowing Championships will be held May 28-30 at Nathan Benderson Park in Sarasota, FL, hosted by the University of Central Florida and Suncoast Aquatic Nature Center Association.
