SARASOTA, FL – The 2021 MAAC champion Marist women's rowing program prepares to compete in its third NCAA Championships, as the three-day tournament begins on Friday, May 28th at Nathan Benderson Park. The Red Foxes, who are ranked 22nd in the Varsity 8, Second Varsity 8, and Varsity 4, arrived in Florida on Wednesday and have practiced the past two days.
 
Heat Sheet & Friday Schedule
  • The Varsity 8 crew participates in the third heat, which begins at 9:24 a.m. Marist rows in Lane 6 and faces Navy, Alabama, Stanford, Rutgers, and Syracuse.
  • The 2V8 squad rows at 10:12 a.m. in the third heat. In Lane 6, the Red Foxes take on Rhode Island, Syracuse, Virginia, Ohio State, and Wisconsin.
  • The V4 squares off against Rhode Island, Syracuse, Michigan, Ohio State, and California in Lane 6 of the third heat, which takes place at 11 a.m.

How to Follow
  • NCAA.com will stream the entirety of the Division I Rowing Championships.
  • Friday's morning and afternoon sessions will both be streamed, beginning at 9 a.m. and 4:10 p.m., respectively.

Last Time Out
  • Marist captured its 12th MAAC Championship in program history with a clean sweep in the MAAC Championships on Sunday, May 16th on the Cooper River in Pennsauken Township, NJ.
  • The Red Foxes have won back-to-back conference titles, earning the MAAC's automatic qualifier in 2019 and 2021.
  • The Varsity 4 won the team's first gold with a time of 7:58.042.
  • Marist's largest victory in a Grand Final was the Second Varsity 8's in 6:58.534, five seconds over silver medalist Jacksonville.
  • In a thrilling comeback, the Varsity 8 crew beat out Stetson by 16 thousandths, earning gold in 6:41.274.
  • Sanford was tabbed as the 2021 MAAC Coach of the Year.
  • Six Red Foxes earned All-MAAC accolades. Sydney Ford (V8 5 seat), Marie Ryden (V8 stroke seat), Selena Mildon (V8 6 seat), Lydia Giguere (V8 7 seat), and Olivia Siyahian (V8 coxswain) garnered First Team honors, while Caroline Voorhis (V8 2 seat) was named to the Second Team.
 
Marist at #ncaarow
  • The Red Foxes compete in their third NCAA Championships, having secured the MAAC's first-ever automatic qualifier in 2013 and again in 2019.
  • In 2019, Marist traveled to Indianapolis, IN. The Red Foxes posted their best times on the final day of competition, clocking in at the following:
    • V8 – 6:37.368, almost five seconds faster than their time trial on the first day.
    • 2V8 – 6:59.100, a season-best and the first sub-seven of the campaign.
    • V4 – 7:42.500, the crew's best time of the weekend.
 
Senior Day
  • Before the Red Foxes made the trip down to the Sunshine State, Marist hosted Senior Day at the Marist Boathouse.
  • The program honored the Class of 2021: Sara Barker, McKenna Klineyoung, Breana Pelliccio, and captains Selena Mildon, Jasmine Miller, and Marie Ryden. Graduate student Sydney Ford, who earned her undergraduate degree in 2020,  was recognized as well.
