Marist to Face Salem in the Opening Round of the National Collegiate Women’s Water Polo Championship

EDISON, NJ (May 3, 2021) – 21st ranked Marist College (8-2, 5-2 MAAC)  and Salem University (18-11) will meet in the National Collegiate Women’s Water Polo Championship opening round game as announced during the NCAA Selection Show Monday night.
 
The two teams will meet onFriday, May 7 at 2 p.m. EST at the Spieker Aquatics Centers in Los Angeles, California. The winner will take top seed USC (19-1, 11-1 PAC-12).
 
Marist defeated VMI 13-10 on Sunday in the MAAC Women’s Water Polo Championship to claim the program’s fifth title and first since 2010. Marist’s Viktoria Orlova was named the Most Valuable Player of the MAAC Water Polo Championship after finishing the tournament with five goals.
 
The Tigers of Salem University come into the National Collegiate Women’s Water Polo Championship, the champion of the WWPA and are currently on a six-game winning streak.
