Monmouth Men Claim Seventh Straight Outdoor Track & Field Championship

Lawrenceville, NJ (May 9, 2021) – The Monmouth University Men are the 2021 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Outdoor (MAAC) Track and Field Champions. It is the seventh year in a row that the men have won the MAAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships. The Hawks have won the championships every year since joining the MAAC in 2014.
 
The Monmouth men tallied 295.5 total points over 21 scored events. The Hawks earned medals in many of those events, taking gold in ten events.
 
Monmouth was dominant in the field events as they swept the medals in three events, Javelin Throw, Pole Vault, and Discus Throw. They also went on to win Shot Put, Triple Jump, and Hammer Toss. In Track Events, the Hawks took home gold in the 110 Meter Hurdles, 400 Meter Dash, 400 Meter Hurdles, and 4x400 Meter Relay.
 
Iona College’s Ehab El-Sandali was named MAAC Men’s Performer of the Year in track events. El-Sandali won gold in the Men’s 1500 Meter Run and the Men’s 5000 Meter Run as he helped Iona win five of the six medals in the two events. He was also able to improve his prelim time in the 1500M by more than 23 seconds in the finals.
 
Iona also took home the MAAC Track Rookie of the Meet as Jadyn Tabois was awarded the honors. Tabois competed in the 200 Meter Dash, 400 Meter Dash and was the third leg of the Men’s 4x100 Meter Relay Team. The rookie took home gold in the 200M, silver in the 400M and helped the Gaels take home gold in the 4x100M Relay.
 
Rider University’s Darnell St. Clair was named 2021 MAAC Men’s Most Outstanding Performer in field events. St. Clair placed second in the Men’s Triple Jump with a distance of 14.56m and won gold in the High Jump in a jump off with a winning height of 1.97m.
 
Rider also took home the MAAC Men’s Rookie of the Meet in field events as Zach Manorowitz earned that honor. Manorowitz took home silver in the Long Jump with a distance of 7.44m. He also placed fourth in the Triple Jump with a distance of 13.83m.
 
Finishing behind Monmouth in second place was Rider with 217.5 points. Iona finished third with 147 points, followed by Saint Peter’s University with 48. Manhattan College ended the weekend in fifth with 40, and Siena College finished sixth with 31. Rounding out the men’s field is Marist College with 17 and Canisius College with 16.
 
Monmouth head coach Mike Nelson won MAAC Men's Coach of the Year. Monmouth has won the award every year since the Hawks entered the MAAC in 2014.
