Monmouth Women Claim Seventh Straight Outdoor Track & Field Championship

Lawrenceville, NJ (May 9, 2021) – The Monmouth University women remain undefeated at the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Outdoor Track & Field Championships, winning their seventh straight title. Monmouth scored 204.5 points over the course of the championships. The Hawks earned medals over both days of competition, winning gold in seven events.
 
Katie Locker of Monmouth won the Women’s 800 Meter Run with a time of 2:09.54 improving on her preliminary time by more than five seconds. Locker also anchored the Hawks 4x800 Meter Relay team as she helped her team take home gold. For her effort, she was named the MAAC Co-Outstanding Performer for track events.  
 
Marist’s Gianna Tedeschi was also named the MAAC Co-Outstanding Performer of the Year. Tedeschi took home the gold in the 10,000 Meter Run as she kept all of her 25 laps around the track under 1:30.
 
Quinnipiac University’s Hayden Robinson was named MAAC Rookie of the Meet for track events. The rookie took home gold in the 200 Meter Dash and placed fifth in the 100 Meter Dash. She also ran the second leg of the 4x100 Meter Relay team for the Bobcats which placed second.
 
Lindsay Bauer of Rider University was named the MAAC Most Outstanding Performer for field events. Bauer competed in the Long Jump, High Jump, Triple Jump placing first, second and third respectively.
 
The MAAC Rookie of the Meet for field events went to Saint Peter’s University’s Lorretta Owoh. Owoh won gold at the Triple Jump and placed fourth in the Long Jump with a distance of 5.57m.
 
Finishing in second place behind Monmouth was Quinnipiac, who tallied 163 points, followed by Rider with 150.5. Manhattan College placed fourth and Iona College placed fifth with 83 and 61 points, respectively. In sixth, Saint Peter’s concluded the weekend with 51 points, while Siena College placed seventh with 34 points. Niagara University recorded 32 points for eighth and Marist College finished in ninth with 27. Rounding out the women’s teams was Canisius College with 11.
 
Monmouth head coach Mike Nelson won MAAC Women's Coach of the Year. Monmouth has won the award every year since the Hawks entered the MAAC in 2014.
