Monmouth's Dixon Black Named Freshman All-American by Collegiate Baseball News

WEST LONG BRANCH, NJ – Monmouth University Baseball freshman infielder Dixon Black (Archbald, PA/Valley View) added to his list of 2021 accolades Wednesday, when Collegiate Baseball News named him the ninth Freshman All-American in program history.
 
Black was named the MAAC Rookie of the Year and was on the league's First Team and Rookie Team after an impressive first season. He finished the season second on the team with a .350 batting average and led the Hawks with 43 hits, nine doubles and 37 games played. He hit four home runs, second on MU, and was 5-for-5 in the stolen base department. Black's slugging percentage stood at .537 and his on base was .414, with his 26 runs scored also second on the team. Black was named to the MAAC's All-Tournament team after collecting a season-best four hits against Rider and driving in a run against Fairfield.
 
Black joins Mike Kelly (2001), Marc Weres (2003), Rick Niederhaus (2006), Ryan Buch (2007), Nick Pulsonetti (2008), Ryan Terry (2008), Andrew McGee (2011) and Dan Klepchick (2018) in school history in being named a Freshman All-American.
