Canisius' Edwards Claimed from PLL Player Pool by Cannons LC 6/30/2021 3:14:00 PM Former Canisius men's lacrosse standout Tim Edwards '15 has been claimed from the Premier Lacrosse League's Player Pool by Cannons Lacrosse Club, the team announced on Wednesday. Edwards is set to become the third Golden Griffin alum to appear in a PLL game this season, joining former Canisius defenseman Holden Garlent '19 on Cannons LC. Former Griffs defenseman Dan Coates '11 is in his third season with Chaos LC. A native of Jamesville, N.Y., Edwards is no stranger to the Cannons colors, having played three seasons (2018-20) with the franchise when it was a part of Major League Lacrosse. In 2020, Edwards helped the Cannons capture their second Steinfeld Cup as he appeared in all six games for the organization during the pandemic-shortened season, finishing the campaign with one assist, a ground ball and a caused turnover. Edwards played four seasons in Blue and Gold from 2012-15. A four-time All-MAAC selection, he finished his career as a Golden Griffin with 145 career points, while ranking fourth with 80 career assists and third in school history with a .558 faceoff percentage. The 2012 MAAC Rookie of the Year, Edwards scored the game-winning for the Griffs in the 2012 MAAC Championship game, helping lead Canisius to it second of three NCAA Tournament appearances in school history. The Cannons LC (1-3) return to action July 3 with a 3 p.m. matchup against Chaos LC at Shuart Stadium in Hempstead, N.Y. The game will air live on both NBCSN and the Peacock Network.
