Iona’s Jack O’Leary Sets Personal Best at NCAA Division I Championship

Edison, N.J. (June 9, 2021) – Iona College’s Jack O’Leary concluded his Outdoor Track & Field season at Hayward Field in Eugene, Oregon at the NCAA Division I Outdoor Track & Field Championship.
 
O’Leary placed 16th in the 10,000 Meter Run at the meet with a time of 28:29.39. The graduate student’s time set a new personal best for O’Leary as he eclipsed his old time (28:37.03), set this year at the Stanford Invitational, by over seven and half seconds. O’Leary was the lone MAAC representative at the championship after he qualified during the NCAA Track & Field East Regional when he placed 11th with a time of 29:01.42. O'Leary's time is the second fastest outdoor 10,000 meter time in school history, only behind former United States Olympian Leonard Korir 27:29:40 time at Stanford in 2011. 
 
After the race, O'Leary earned second All-America honors, his second All-America honors this year as he earned the same recongition in the 2020-21 NCAA Cross Country Championship in March.
