Canisius' Kara Paradowski Named to CoSIDA Academic All-District First Team 7/1/2021 3:00:00 PM Canisius senior softball player Kara Paradowski has been named to the 2021 Academic All-District I First Team, as announced by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) on Thursday. Paradowski, who closed out her collegiate playing career in May, graduated from the College with her undergraduate degree in mathematics. She is the first Canisius softball player to earn CoSIDA Academic All-District honors since 2016, and she is one of three players from a MAAC school to be recognized this season. An All-MAAC First Team honoree and an NFCA Division I Great Lakes Region Third-Team selection in 2021, Paradowski led Canisius in six offensive categories, including batting average (.374), hits (46), runs scored (31), at-bats (123), triples (2) and stolen bases (40). Her 40 stolen bases during the 2021 season are tied for the single-season program record, and her 1.11 steals per contest ended up leading the entire nation. The Lancaster, N.Y., native ended her time in Blue and Gold with 110 career stolen bases, making her the second Canisius player and just the fifth player in MAAC history to swipe 100-plus career bags. The 2020-21 Academic All-District® Softball Team, selected by CoSIDA, recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. The CoSIDA Academic All-America® program separately recognizes softball honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA. First-team Academic All-District® honorees advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced in late July.
