Fairfield's Sansone Named Cape Cod League All-Star
FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Fairfield University Baseball left-hander Michael Sansone was named to the Cape Cod League All-Star team, acknowledging his strong performance in the summer league this season. Sansone has recorded a perfect 3-0 record with a 1.00 ERA in the most prestigious collegiate summer league in the country.

In 18.0 innings, Sansone is tied for second in the Cape with a 1.00 ERA while also tying for the league standard with three victories. The left-hander has struck out 17 batters in his first 18 innings while surrendering just nine hits and two walks and hitters batting just .148. Sansone was picked out of the Western Division with the Bourne Braves.
Sansone was an instrumental part in Fairfield's historical 2021 season as he recorded nine wins, tying his classmate Jake Noviello for the most in a single season in program history. Sansone was named to the All-MAAC First Team after finishing in the top-three in the MAAC in: wins, ERA (2.58), strikeouts (73), innings pitched (66.1), and opponent's batting average (.209). Sansone ended his season with three shutout innings in relief in the NCAA Regionals against Arizona State, as he picked up the win over the Sun Devils.
Sansone was one of the leaders of the Stags pitching staff that finished the year ranked second in the nation in ERA (3.14) while leading the NCAA in WHIP (1.06). The Stags' historical season also included a program record 39 wins and the Stags' first-ever Top-25 ranking.
