Men's Lacrosse 8/31/2021 11:00:00 AM Canisius College Athletics Canisius' Miyashita Names Sulver as MLAX Volunteer Assistant Coach Canisius men's lacrosse coach Mark Miyashita announced Tuesday that former High Point midfielder Dalton Sulver has joined the Golden Griffins' coaching staff as a volunteer assistant coach. "I am excited to add Coach Sulver to our staff this year as he comes to us following a successful playing career at High Point that was capped with a conference championship," Miyashita said. "He comes with great credentials as both a player and leader, but more importantly as a person when talking with Coach (Jon) Torpey and his staff about his intangibles. Our staff and players are eager to get to work with him in this fall." A native of Kingwood, Texas, Sulver makes his way to Main Street after a five-year career with the Panthers that saw him appear in 63 games, making 21 starts. He finished his career with 62 goals and 20 assists while also contributing 44 ground balls. Sulver capped his career in 2021 by helping High Point capture the program's second Southern Conference Tournament crown as he matched his career high with 21 goals while adding four assists. He was named to the All-Tournament Team at the SoCon Championship for his efforts. "I am very grateful to Coach Miyashita and Coach (Derek) Marks for welcoming me onto the staff here at Canisius," Sulver said. "I'm extremely excited to get to work with the guys and cannot wait to help them pursue another MAAC Championship. Go Griffs!" A five-time Academic All-Southern Conference selection and an USILA All-American Scholar in 2020, Sulver was selected in the fifth round (76th overall) of the 2020 National Lacrosse League Entry Draft by the Buffalo Bandits. He signed a two-year contract with the franchise on Aug. 27. For all the latest updates on Canisius men's lacrosse, be sure to follow @GriffsMLax on Twitter and Instagram.
