JERSEY CITY, NJ - The Saint Peter's University women's basketball team and head coach Marc Mitchell have announced a nine-game non-conference schedule for the 2021-22 season. Out of the nine matchups, four of those will be played in Jersey City. The other five will be on the road and will see the Peacocks travel to schools in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Delaware.
To tip-off the season, women's basketball opens up the newly renovated Run Baby Run Arena inside The Victor R. Yanitelli, S.J. Recreational Life Center (RLC) with a Battle of the Boulevard exhibition game against NJCU on Wednesday, Nov. 3.
The regular season for Marc Mitchell and company kicks off on Tuesday, Nov. 9, 2021 in a matchup that sees the Peacocks travel to in-state opponent Rutgers. This will be the second meeting in program history, with the two teams also meeting in the 2003-2004 season. Three days later, the Peacocks will travel to Pennsylvania to take on Lehigh on November 12 for their first clash since 2015-2016.
Saint Peter's welcomes in Wagner College for their first home game of the season on Wednesday, Nov. 17. The two teams last met in 2018-2019, with the Peacocks coming out on top 69-57 in Jersey City. The Peacocks then host Howard four days later on Nov. 21.
The non-conference slate continues on Saturday, Nov. 27 with the Peacocks visiting in-state rival New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT) in Newark. The two teams have met annually since 2017-18 with the Peacocks claiming three of the four contests. Saint Peter's remains home, rounding out November with Morgan State (Monday, Nov 29), a team they hold a commanding 10-1 all-time record against.
December starts with a trip to Dover, Delaware to take on the Delaware State Hornets on Saturday, Dec. 4. The Peacocks are 7-1 all-time against the Hornets and won the last meeting in 2008-2009. The team returns home a week later on Dec. 11 to take on Coppin State. Saint Peter's rounds out the non-conference schedule with a trip to nearby Teaneck to do battle with Fairleigh Dickinson on Wednesday, Dec. 22.
