LAS VEGAS, NV - Iona College men's basketball graduate Asante Gist was named to the NBA Summer League roster of the Washington Wizards and will compete this week in Las Vegas, Nevada.
 
The Wizards are slated to play three games this week, starting with a 10 p.m. ET tilt vs. the Sacramento Kings on Tuesday, August 10 on NBA-TV. Game two takes place Thursday (August 12) at 5 p.m. ET vs. the Brooklyn Nets on ESPNU. The finale is Sunday (August 15) at 4 p.m. vs. the newly crowned NBA-champion Milwaukee Bucks on NBA-TV.
 
A 1,300+ point scorer for his career, Gist played his first two seasons at Eastern Kentucky before completing his college playing days at Iona for the last three years. A two-time MAAC champion, Gist averaged 12.2 points and 2.8 assists in 64 games played at Iona. He connected on 189 career three-point field goals including 118 in Maroon & Gold. Gist led the Gaels to a four-games-in-five-days MAAC tournament victory this past season, earning most outstanding performer honors.
 
Gist joins a list of recent former Gaels to play in the NBA Summer League that includes Sam Cassell Jr., A.J. English, David Laury, Scott Machado and Rashad James.
