NIAGARA UNIV., N.Y. –
Selena Borek (Cerra) has been named the head coach of the Niagara women's golf team.
"I am honored to be the new women's golf coach for Niagara, my alma mater and former team," said Borek. "I am excited to bring a passion and energy to our program as a former Purple Eagle golfer."
Borek was a four-year member of the Niagara women's golf team, competing from 2013-17. She was a three-time MAAC All-Academic Team honoree.
"We are thrilled to have Selena return to the women's golf team in a coaching capacity," said Associate Athletic Director/Senior Woman Administrator
Dedra Palmer. "In speaking with her about the opportunity to lead our program, it was clear how passionate she was about Niagara and her time here as a student-athlete. As a student, she personified the mission of Niagara University and we could not be more excited for the growth of the program under her leadership."
Borek graduated from Niagara in 2017 with a bachelor's degree in Spanish/Education and earned a master's degree in Childhood Bilingual Education from Canisius in 2019. Borek is also currently working toward a master's in Educational Leadership at NU with an expected graduation date of July 2022.
Borek has been working as a bilingual teacher within the Buffalo Public Schools system since 2017. She has been working at Frank A. Sedita Academy since August 2017 and worked for the Se Levanta Program in the summer of 2018. Borek is also currently doing an administrator internship so she can become a school leader in the future.
