Edison, NJ (September 17, 2021) – The conference portion of the 2021 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) women’s soccer season is set to begin this weekend. All MAAC teams will be in action over the course of the weekend, with 10 set to face conference opponents.
 
Conference play kicks off Saturday afternoon when Rider University travels to Loudonville, NY to take on the defending MAAC Champion Siena Saints at 12:00 p.m. The Broncs and Saints were selected to finish third and fifth, respectively in the MAAC Coaches’ Preseason Poll. Siena landed two student-athletes on the Preseason All-MAAC Team in Brianna Montinard and Leslie Adams, while the Broncs had one selection, she was the only unanimous selection, Makenzie Rodrigues.
 
Three other MAAC Matches start at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday as Fairfield University plays Marist College, Iona College takes on Monmouth University and Manhattan visits Canisius. The preseason favorite in the MAAC Coaches’ Preseason Poll, Monmouth Hawks, had three selections to Preseason All-MAAC Team as they return Lauren Karabin, Kill Conklin, and Sarina Jones.
 
Rounding out conference play on Sunday is Saint Peter’s and Niagara as they face off against each other at 12:00 p.m. Niagara went 6-1 in non-conference play this season and is currently riding a six-game winning streak. Quinnipiac University will finish their non-conference schedule on Sunday and look to improve to 6-0 when they take on Columbia at 2:30 p.m. The Bobcats placed a conference-high four student-athletes on the Preseason All-MAAC Team.
