EDISON, N.J. (September 22, 2021) – Quinnipiac’s Emily Young and Iona’s Lachlan Wellington have been named the Hercules Tires Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Student-Athletes of the Week.

Men’s Cross Country
Wellington raced to a first-place finish in the 8k at the Brother John "Paddy" Doyle Meet of Champions at Van Cortlandt Park this past Friday. The junior's 25:18.17 clocking was nearly five seconds faster than the second-place finisher. Wellington and the Iona Men's Cross Country Program have officially embarked on the journey for a 31st consecutive Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Championship.

Women’s Cross Country
The Quinnipiac Women's Cross Country Team took second place overall at Iona on Friday, Sept. 17. Senior Emily Young led the team with a fourth-place finish (18:35.4) in the 5k race. Young has led the Bobcats with two top-five finishes in the team's first two meets this season. Last season, Young placed seventh in the 6k (22:17.4) at the MAAC Championships.
