Fairfield’s Diodati and Marist’s Scharf Named Hercules Tires MAAC Student-Athletes of the Week

EDISON, N.J. (September 8, 2021) – Fairfield’s Gabby Diodati and Marist’s Justin Scharf have been named the Hercules Tires Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Student-Athletes of the Week.

Playing in his first season with the Red Foxes, Justin Scharf has helped steady Marist's back line during the first three games of the year. The co-captain has started all three matches and played all 270 minutes. In that span, the Red Fox defense has allowed just one goal on 48 shots. Most recently, the senior helped Marist shut out Big East foe St. John's in a 1-0 victory on September 4th, limiting the Red Storm to just one shot on goal. Off the pitch, Scharf is a two-time Dean's List honoree at Marist College.

Gabby Diodati netted a hat trick in the Stags’ 4-3 victory at UMass Lowell on Monday, setting the tone for a 2-0-1 week of action on the pitch. The Fairfield captain leads the Stags with four goals and nine total points this fall. Diodati is back in action this season after graduating cum laude in May of 2021 with a B.S. in Psychology. The Dean’s List student is currently pursuing a Master’s in Healthcare Administration at the University.
