EDISON, NJ (January 14, 2022) – Quinnipiac’s Cur’Tiera Haywood scored a MAAC single-game season-high 31 points to lead the Bobcats to victory, Fairfield stays unbeaten in MAAC hoops play, Manhattan stays undefeated at home, Siena notched their second win in a row, and Rider gets back in the win column in a full slate of women’s MAAC hoops on Thursday.

The Fairfield University women’s basketball team continued their hot start in conference play, taking down Niagara University, 81-64 to improve to 5-0 in MAAC Hoops play. The MAAC’s leading scorer Lou Lopez-Senechal was limited to just two points in the first half, but Lopez-Senechal scored a scorching 22 points over the back half off the game to propel the Stags to victory. The 81 points scored by the Stags is the most this season after getting contributions from Sydney Lowery (16 points), Sam Lewis (15 points) and Callie Cavanaugh (10 points). For Niagara, Angel Parker led the scoring with 14 points followed by 11 and 10 points from Ally Haar and Olivia Mason.

The Manhattan College women’e basketball team stayed perfect at home this season (6-0) after defeated Iona College, 64-59. The Jaspers outscored Iona, 18-9 over the final nine minutes to secure the win. Brazil Harvey-Carr scored 17 points, Dee Dee Davis added 11 and freshman Petra Juric contributed 10 in the win. For the Gaels, Ketsia Athias scored a game-high 18 points, Shyan Mwai and Juana Camilion each added 12 points.

Behind 17 points and a career-high nine rebounds from Lenaejha Evans the Rider University women's basketball team topped Canisius, 59-51, Thursday night. Makayla Firebaugh added 13 points and Jessika Schiffer contributed 11 in the win. Erika Joseph led the Griffs in scoring 15 points and Dani Haskell added 10 points in the loss.

The Quinnipiac University women’s basketball team defeated Saint Peter’s, 79-66 on the back of junior forward Cur’Tiera Haywood who scored 31 points for not only a career-high, but also a single-game high in the MAAC this season. Mackenzie DeWees added seven points, eight rebounds, six assists and a career-high nine steals in the victory. Her nine steals marked the second-most thefts in a single game in program-history. Rose Caverly also scored double-figures for the Bobcats. Kendrea Williams also put up a great-scoring night, notching 25 points for the Peacocks, while Tyara McQueen added 15 points.

The Siena College women’s basketball team defeated Marist College for the first time since the 2017-18 season last night, 69-53. Siena notched their second win in a row as Rayshel Brown and Margo Peterson led the Saints in scoring with a combined 31 points. Zaria Shazer led Marist with 13 points and eight rebounds as the only Red Fox to finish in double-figures.
