Wagner Water Polo Ranked 23rd In CWPA Preseason Poll

The Seahawks Make An Appearance In The CWPA Preseason Top-25 For The Seventh Consecutive Season

The Wagner College women's water polo team checks in at #23 in the College Water Polo Association (CWPA) preseason poll, released by the CWPA.

The Seahawks are one of two Metro-Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) teams in the Top-25, with Marist coming in at #22.

This marks the seventh consecutive year the Seahawks have been ranked in the CWPA preseason poll. Despite not competing last season, Wagner claimed a #19 ranking in the 2021 poll.


 

Out of the 25 teams in the preseason poll, the Seahawks will play seven ranked teams this season: #3 UCLA, #4 Arizona State, #11 Indiana, #15 San Diego State, #18 UC Santa Barbara and #22 Marist. Additionally, Wagner will battle six teams that received votes in the poll: Azusa Pacific, LIU, Brown, La Salle, Saint Francis U and Cal State East Bay.

Along with Wagner and Marist, LIU and La Salle join the two teams as MAAC institutions getting recognition by the CWPA.

The Seahawks will open their season next weekend at the UC Santa Barbara Winter Invite where they will face three ranked teams (UCLA, UC San Diego, UC Santa Barbara) and one team who received votes in Azusa Pacific.
