EDISON, NJ (Jan. 19, 2022) – Three Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) men’s basketball rescheduled games were played on Tuesday. Iona improved to a perfect 7-0 in MAAC play following an overtime thriller at Monmouth, Niagara erased a double-digit second half deficit for a road win, and Saint Peter’s took sole possession of second-place in the MAAC improving to 4-1.

Top-ranked Iona remained perfect in league action following a classic overtime thriller with Monmouth, resulting in an 86-85 victory for the Gaels at OceanFirst Bank Center on Tuesday night. Iona is 7-0 in the MAAC for the first time in program history. Elijah Joiner poured in a career-high 24 points to lead Iona, while Nelly Junior Joseph totaled 15 points and Tyson Jolly added 11 points. Monmouth had three players score 20+ points, led by 22 from Walker Miller, and 21 points each from George Papas and Shavar Reynolds.
Niagara (8-8, 3-4 MAAC) – 72 | Manhattan (9-5, 2-3 MAAC) – 63

Niagara used a dominating second half to defeat Manhattan 72-63 on the road at Draddy Gymnasium on Tuesday night in MAAC play. Trailing by 12 early in the second half, the Purple Eagles would outscore the Jaspers 48-30 in the second half to complete the comeback win. Four of Niagara’s starting unit scored in double figures and the five combined to score 68 points. Noah Thomasson (20), Marcus Hammond (19), Jordan Cintron (13), and Sam Iorio (12) led the offensive scoring. Warren Williams and Jose Perez had 16 points each to lead the Jaspers, while Elijah Buchanan chipped in with 12 points.
Saint Peter’s (6-6, 4-1 MAAC) – 65 | Canisius (5-12, 1-5 MAAC) – 57

Saint Peter’s earned a 65-57 win over Canisius on Tuesday afternoon inside of Run Baby Run Arena. The win was the third consecutive for the Peacocks and it was the third straight game the team had nine different scorers and an opponent scoring under 65 points. Isiah Dasher scored a season-high 17 points to lead Saint Peter’s, while KC Ndefo had a near double-double of eight points and 12 rebound. Pacing Canisius is scoring was Scott Hitchon with 14 points and Malek Green with 12 points.
