Niagara Women’s Basketball Edges Rider to Split Season Series

EDISON, NJ (January 19, 2022) – The Niagara University women’s basketball team defeated Rider University, 75-74 after playing their home-away series in back-to-back games.

The Niagara University women’s basketball team trailed for more than 35 minutes against Rider on Tuesday night but pulled out the 75-74 victory on the road in Alumni Gymnasium. For the Purple Eagles, Aaliyah Parker scored a team-high and career-best 22 points, followed by Maddy Yelle and Kyra Grimshaw with 16 and 13, respectively. For the Broncs, Makayla Firebaugh scored a career-high and tied a MAAC individual season-high with 31 points. Raphaela Toussaint recorded her fourth double-double of the season with 12 points and 12 rebounds and Jessika Schiffer added 12 points as well. Niagara and Rider split their season series.
 
The 2021-22 campaign culminates with the 2022 Hercules Tires MAAC Men’s and Women’s Basketball Championships from March 8-12 at Atlantic City's Jim Whelan Boardwalk Hall.
