EDISON, NJ (January 25, 2022) – The Fairfield University women’s basketball team won their MAAC-leading eighth conference game this season, while Marist College women’s basketball grabbed their second consecutive win to improve to 4-4 in MAAC Hoops play.

Marist used a strong defensive effort in the first and fourth quarter to defeat Canisius, 57-44 on Monday night. The Red Foxes allowed just 11 points combined in those quarters to propel them to victory. Marist outrebounded the Griffs 41-33 on the night and outshot them as well 40 percent to 32 percent from the field. Trinasia Kennedy led all scorers with 15 points and Zaria Shazer scored 14 and grabbed nine rebounds in the win. For the Griffs, Shaunae Brown and Dani Haskell scored 12 points and 10 points, respectively.

The Fairfield University women’s basketball team erased an 11-point deficit after the first quarter to defeat Monmouth, 61-54 on the road on Monday night. MAAC-leading scorer Lou Lopez-Senechal scored a game-high 21 points, Callie Cavanaugh added 14 and Sydney Lowery scored 10 points to lead the Stags. Andrea Hernangomez grabbed 10 rebounds for the Stags and Cavanaugh blocked two shots to help propel the Stags defensively. For the Hawks, Kaci Donovan scored a team-high 15 points, Lucy Thomas added 14 and Ariana Vanderhoop added 10 points.
