EDISON, NJ (January 26, 2022) – Iona’s Kedarjah Lewis and Canisius’ Malek Green have been named the Hercules Tires Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Student-Athletes of the Week.

Freshman Kedarjah Lewis set program records in the long jump (5.67 meters) and the 60-meter dash (7.86) at the Ramapo Opener, helping the Iona women's track and field team finish second as a team. Kedarjah finished first individually in the long jump and notched second in the 60-meter. A two-sport athlete, Kedarjah was the leading goal scorer this past season for Iona women's soccer, earning MAAC Rookie of the Year honors. Lewis and the Gaels return to action this Friday and Saturday at the John Thomas Terrier Classic hosted by Boston University.

Canisius senior Malek Green leads the Golden Griffins on the floor, and he is a leader in the classroom as well. Ranked as one of the MAAC’s top-10 scorers this season with his 13.9 points per game scoring average, Green holds a grade point average of 3.95 as a sport administration major at Canisius. In 2020-21, the Cincinnati, Ohio native led the Griffs in both scoring and rebounding average en route to be named All-MAAC Third Team. He was also selected as the 2021 MAAC Sixth Player of the Year, making him just the second player in program history to earn that honor. This season, Green started the year as a Preseason All-MAAC Third Team honoree.
