Emrullah had a match for the ages, hitting nine kills and securing a new career-high 14 blocks on the road in the 3-1 Siena victory over MAAC frontrunner Marist. Emrullah also hit over 50% on her 16 total swings, and served up three service aces. Her weekend averaged out to 2.25 kills per set, 3.5 blocks per set, for a total of 4.75 points per set for the sophomore.
Libero of the Week
Hope Matschner, Iona
Jr., Winter Springs, FL, Winter Springs High School
In a 2-1 week for the Gaels, Matschner poured in 69 digs, averaging 6.27 D/S while also maintaining a perfect return reception on 76 attempts. In the Gaels four-set win at SPU, Matschner contributed a match-high 28 digs to along with five assists, and then followed up that performance with 24 digs in Iona's win at Quinnipiac. The junior also reached milestone dig 1,000 over the weekend and still on the season, Matschner leads the NCAA in both Digs (460) and D/S (6.48).
Rookie of the Week
Ella Bourque, Canisius
Fr., Yorkville, IL, Yorkville
Freshman setter Ella Bourque had another impressive MAAC outing, totaling 87 assists over two matches with 49 against Saint Peter's and 38 against Rider. Bourque finished the weekend with 10.88 assists-per-set, one of the highest totals she has had this season. Also, on the offensive side of the ball, Bourque had two kills and four service aces. On defense, she posted 11 digs and four total blocks with three against Rider for an average of .50 blocks per set and 1.38 digs per set.
The 2022 MAAC Volleyball Championship takes place from November 16 through 19 at ESPN Wide World of Sports in Lake Buena Vista, FL. The 10-team, single-elimination championship will feature four rounds of action with the opening round taking place on Wednesday, November 16, followed by the quarterfinals on Thursday, November 17, the semifinals on Friday, November 18, and concluding with the championship match on Saturday, November 19.
