EDISON, NJ (Oct. 12, 2022) – Mount St. Mary's John Wang and Canisius' Elle Shult have been named the Hercules Tires Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Student-Athletes of the Week.
John Wang
Mount St. Mary’s
Men’s Cross Country
Wang is a 5
th year runner on the cross-country team. Leading the men’s squad, he has posted the top times for the squad all season long including a win at the Mount 5K Duals September 2
nd. In a photo finish, Wang timed a perfect sprint to complete the race in 15:21.7. He followed that with a top five finish during the Siena Invitational September 9
th. Wang is pursuing a degree in Biochemistry.
Elle Shult
Canisius
Women’s Volleyball
Elle Shult has played in 45 sets thus far this season, recording 67 total kills. She has also recorded 35 total blocks, which is currently second on the team. Shult has posted a season-high 10 kills in wins over conference foes Quinnipiac (Sept. 18) and Rider (Oct. 9). The Oconomowoc, Wis., native has also finished with four or more total blocks on five occasions, including three of the Griff’s last four matches. A dual Entrepreneurship/Marketing major at Canisius, Shult has been named to the MAAC All-Academic Team each of the past two seasons.
