Player of the Week
Sasha van der Merwe

Junior outside hitter Sasha van der Merwe claims MAAC Volleyball Player of the Week honors in the final week of the season.  Van der Merwe led Marist to a 2-0 weekend of play while accumulating 36.5 points, 31 kills, 12 digs, and boasting a .957 serve percentage in six sets of competition played.
 
Libero of the Week
Hope Matschner, Iona
Jr., Winter Springs, FL, Winter Springs

Matschner takes home Libero of the Week honors once again, having received this award nine different times this season. In Iona’s only game this past weekend Matschner recorded 20 digs and had a serve percentage of .900 for the Gaels.

Rookie of the Week
Damla Gunes
FY., Bursa, Turkey, Sahinkaya Academy

Gunes claims Rookie of the Week honors after an impressive weekend of competition for Quinnipiac. Quinnipiac went 2-0 over the past weekend of competition with wins over Rider and Saint Peter’s. In six sets played Gunes racked up 63 assists, 16 digs, and had a .969 serve percentage.

The 2022 MAAC Volleyball Championship takes place from November 16 through 19 at ESPN Wide World of Sports in Lake Buena Vista, FL. The 10-team, single-elimination championship will feature four rounds of action with the opening round taking place on Wednesday, November 16, followed by the quarterfinals on Thursday, November 17, the semifinals on Friday, November 18, and concluding with the championship match on Saturday, November 19.
