Marist’s Paxis and Mount St. Mary’s Bell Named Hercules Tires MAAC Student-Athletes of the Week

Edison, NJ (Nov. 16, 2022) – Marist’s Chris Paxis and Mount St. Mary’s Kalli Bell have been named the Hercules Tires Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Student-Athletes of the Week.

Men’s Cross Country
 
A junior from Staten Island, New York, Chris Paxis is a captain on Marist's men's cross country and track & field teams. He holds track & field records in the indoor distance medley relay, outdoor 4X8 relay, and outdoor 4X15 relay. In cross country, his time of 24:37 at this year's Paul Short Run was the third fastest in school history. He placed 16th at the MAAC Championships was the Red Foxes' second-leading runner. An Accounting major, Paxis has been selected to the Marist Dean's List in all four of his semesters on campus. He is a multi-year MAAC All-Academic Team and MAAC Academic Honor Roll selection. Chris is the recipient of the Greg Salamone Memorial Scholarship, which goes to a top distance runner in the program.
 
Kalli Bell
Mount St. Mary’s
Women’s Soccer
 
Bell led the Mount St. Mary's women's soccer team in points scored during the season with nine, divided up into five assists and a pair of goals. Her scores came in the game against Fairfield on September 28th and in securing a draw against Manhattan October 12th, the latter of which came within the final two minutes of play. Four of the five assists on the year helped the Mount garner points in the standings. In the classroom, Bell boasts an impressive 3.99 GPA, working towards a degree in business with a minor in sport management.
