2022 MAAC Volleyball Championship Semifinal Recap; Fairfield and Quinnipiac reach Finals

Lake Buena Vista, FL (Nov. 18, 2022) – The Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Volleyball Championship semifinal round took place Friday, November 18 with No. 1 Fairfield taking on No. 5 Siena in the first match of the day. No. 6 Quinnipiac faced off with No. 7 Rider in the second semifinal contest. Both semifinal matches aired on ESPN+.

Top seed Fairfield University defeated No.5 seeded Siena College in four sets in the first semifinal matchup on Friday. The back-and-forth contest included 25 ties and 14 lead changes. Fairfield will advance to the final of the MAAC Volleyball Championship on Saturday, November 19.

  • MAAC Player of the Year KJ Johnson led Fairfield with 20 kills in the match.
  • Blakely Montgomery recorded 45 assists in the contest.
  • Kyla Berg had 18 digs for Fairfield.

The No. 6 seeded Quinnipiac Bobcats took down the No. 7 seeded Rider Broncs in three sets in the second semifinal match on Friday. Quinnipiac will now face top seeded Fairfield in the MAAC Volleyball Championship final on Saturday, November 19 at 1pm.

  • Ginerva Giovagnoni led Quinnipiac with 15 kills.
  • Damla Gunes recorded 36 assists leading all players in the match.
  • Aryanah Diaz totaled 14 assists for Quinnipiac

The 2022 MAAC Volleyball Championship takes place from November 16 through 19 at ESPN Wide World of Sports in Lake Buena Vista, FL. The 10-team, single-elimination championship will feature four rounds of action with the opening round taking place on Wednesday, November 16, followed by the quarterfinals on Thursday, November 17, the semifinals on Friday, November 18, and concluding with the championship match on Saturday, November 19.
