EDISON, NJ (Nov. 26, 2022) – Fairfield University and Quinnipiac University each picked up wins for Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) men’s basketball during multi-team events on Friday. The Stags earned their first win of 2022-23 in the Hostilo Hoops Community Classic, while the Bobcats improved to 6-0 with their win in The Northern Classic.

Fairfield University Men's Basketball upset previously unbeaten Towson, 74-69, to open the Hostilo Hoops Community Classic in Savannah, GA on Friday evening. The win was the first of the season for the Stags while the loss was the first of the season for defending CAA champion and preseason CAA favorite Towson. TJ Long scored a team-best 15 points and Caleb Fields added 11 points for the Stags.

Quinnipiac men's basketball earned a 58-44 double-digit win over Stephen F. Austin on Friday afternoon in the first game of The Northern Classic in Canada. With the victory, the Bobcats move to a perfect 6-0 to begin the 2022-23 campaign, the first time the team has opened a season 6-0 since 1969-70. Quinnipiac went on 15-0 run in the second half, breaking a 37-37 tie, and outscoring Stephen F. Austin 28-18 overall in the second half to grab the victory. Paul Otieno led the charge for Quinnipiac with 13 points and 15 rebounds; Luis Kortright added 12 points, and Matt Balanc chipped in with 10 points.

Siena men’s basketball fell to unbeaten Ole Miss, 74-62, in the ESPN Events Invitational Semifinals at the State Farm Field House in Kissimmee, FL on Friday afternoon. Javian McCollum established a new career-high with 24 points and tied his career-best with eight assists for the second straight day to lead the Saints. Jackson Stormo (13) and Jared Billups (11) also scored in double figures for Siena in the meeting.
