Quinnipiac Captures the 2022 MAAC Women’s Soccer Tournament Championship

Hamden, CT (Nov. 6, 2022) – The 2022 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Women's Soccer Championship final took place at 12 pm on Sunday, November 6, with top- seeded Quinnipiac University hosting No.3 seed Niagara University.

The top seeded Quinnipiac University Bobcats claim their first ever MAAC Women’s Soccer Tournament title by defeating the No. 3 seed Niagara University Purple Eagles. The Bobcats extended their undefeated home record with today’s 4-0 win, and now hold the 2022 MAAC Regular Season and Post- Season titles. As The 2022 MAAC Women’s Soccer Tournament Champion, Quinnipiac will earn an automatic bid to the 2022 NCAA Division 1 Women’s Soccer Tournament. The Bobcats now await the NCAA selection show, airing November 7 at 4pm to find out their next opponent.

  • The nation’s goal leader, Rebecca Cooke, led Quinnipiac with 11 shots, adding in two goals.
  • Forward, Courtney Chochol, recorded her sixth goal on the season.
  • Sofia Lospinoso recorded three saves in the contest.
  • Quinnipiac has outscored Niagara 19-1 in the last seven meetings between the schools.
  • Rebecca Cooke was named the 2022 MAAC Women’s Soccer Championship Tournament MVP.

  • Niagara reached the MAAC Women’s Soccer Championship final for the first time since 2009.
  • On the season the Purple Eagles finish with a record of 11-8-1 & 6-3-1 in MAAC competition.
  • Agnes Stenlund recorded 10 saves in the match.
  • Annie Ibey led Niagara with two shots.
  •  Emma Davies, Ida Miceli, and Claudia Cuicani were named to the 2022 MAAC Women’s Soccer Championship All-Tournament team
 
The 2022 MAAC Women's Soccer Championship will take place from October 30 through November 6. The six-team, single-elimination championship will be hosted by the higher seed of each match. The opening round will take place on Sunday, October 30, followed by the semifinals on Thursday, November 3, and concluding with the championship match on Sunday, November 6.
