Top-seeded Quinnipiac will host No. 4 Niagara in the first semifinal contest in Hamden, CT. 2022 Regular season champions, the Quinnipiac Bobcats make their fourth semifinal appearance over the past five seasons since 2018. The Bobcats look to keep their home unbeaten streak intact, entering the semifinals with an 8-0-1 home mark on the season. The Purple Eagles earned a spot in the semis by way of a 4-3 penalty kick edge, following a 1-1 draw with No. 5 Siena on Sunday. The two sides met in the season finale on Wednesday, Nov. 2, with Niagara earning a 1-0 home win over Quinnipiac to lockup their playoff berth. Prior to the match, Quinnipiac had gone unbeaten in eight straight games. Niagara is unbeaten in its last four contests, but three ended in draws with the lone win coming against Quinnipiac. Thursday’s meeting will be the first postseason clash between the two programs.

Quinnipiac will look to make the championship final for the fifth time ever, last making it in during the fall 2020-21 season. Niagara is seeking its third finals trip, making it previously in 2012 and 2009.

No. 2 Iona will play host to No. 3 Manhattan in a rivalry matchup between the MAAC’s two New York City institutions. The Gaels will be making their first trip to the semifinals since 2019, when they last won the MAAC title. Iona closed out the regular with just one loss over its final 11 matches, only falling in the season finale. Manhattan clinched its first semifinal berth since 2013 by knocking off No. 6 Fairfield 2-0 on Sunday in the opening round. The Jaspers are unbeaten in seven consecutive matches, posting a 4-0-3 record since Oct. 12. The two rivals finished the regular season tied for second-place behind Quinnipiac but Iona’s 2-1 win over Manhattan on Oct. 8 gave the Gaels the head-to-head tiebreaker. That loss for the Jaspers was the last time Manhattan was defeated this season. The last time the NYC rivals met in postseason action was during the 2011 semifinals, with Manhattan coming out on top, 1-0 in double overtime.

Iona is in search of its fourth championship title game berth, last qualifying for the final in 2019. Manhattan has two previous finals appearances (2011 and 1994), and will look to make it back to the championship match for the first time in over a decade.

The 2022 MAAC Men's Soccer Championship will take place from November 6 through 13. The six-team, single-elimination championship will be hosted by the higher seed of each match. The opening round will take place on Sunday, November 6, followed by the semifinals on Thursday, November 10, and concluding with the championship match on Sunday, November 13.
