Iona and Fairfield Capture Non-Conference Wins in Women’s Basketball Action on Wednesday

Edison, NJ (Dec. 1, 2022) – Iona and Fairfield pick up wins in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) women’s basketball non-conference action on Wednesday.

Fairfield took down Fordham on the road 82-75, led by Callie Cavanaugh’s 30-point effort. Callie Cavanaugh poured in 30 points and grabbed six rebounds to lead Fairfield past Fordham on Wednesday. Izabela Nicoletti-Le added in 20 points, seven rebounds and three assists for Fairfield in the contest and Janelle Brown recorded a monster double-double with 18 points and 15 rebounds. With the win Fairfield moves to 3-3 on the season.

Iona secured a home win on Wednesday against Hofstra 62-46. Juana Camilion scored 18 points, grabbed four rebounds, and dished out three assists to lead Iona. Kate Mager added in 17 points, and Ketsia Athias chipped in eight points and nine rebounds for the Gaels.

Rider was defeated by Lehigh 81-67 in a home non-conference game. Jessika Schiffer led Rider with 19 points in the contest. Raphaela Toussaint recorded 17 points and six rebounds on the day and Makayla Firebaugh added in 14 points for the Broncs.
