EDISON, NJ (Dec. 2, 2022) – Rider University has been chosen as the preseason favorites in both of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Men's and Women's Indoor Track & Field Preseason Coaches’ Polls, as voted on by the league's head coaches. 
 
Picked unanimously to win the 2023 men’s title, the Rider Broncs swept the poll by receiving all eight first place votes for a total of 64 points. Last season’s runner-up, Rider finishing just behind former MAAC member Monmouth on the team leaderboard with 172 points. The Broncs lone MAAC indoor title came in 2017, but despite only having one indoor trophy, Rider has finished in second place four straight years since winning it all.
 
Iona University was tabbed second behind the Broncs, receiving 51 points, while MAAC newcomer Mount St. Mary’s rounded out the top three with 48 points. Manhattan College (42) was voted in fourth place and in fifth place was Saint Peter’s University (30). Marist College (23) Siena College (20) and Canisius College (10) closed out the men’s preseason poll.
 
On the women's side, Rider received a total of 79 points with seven first place votes to earn the top spot in the poll. Last season, Rider finished tied for second with Quinnipiac, behind team champions, Monmouth. The Broncs most recent MAAC indoor crown came in 2020, when Rider edged runner-up Quinnipiac by a half point, winning the title with a final total of 154.5 points. Rider has won a pair of indoor championships, also earning the league trophy in 2007 as well.
 
Picked second and receiving the final two first place votes was Quinnipiac earning 65 points, while Iona was voted third, picking up 55 total points to close the top three. Manhattan and Mount St. Mary’s tied for fourth place, each getting 54 points to round out the top five. Saint Peter's (32), Siena (31), Marist (23) and Canisius (12) rounded out the poll.

The 2023 MAAC Men's and Women's Indoor Track & Field Championships will take place on Saturday and Sunday, Feb. 18-19, at the New Balance Armory Track and Field Center in New York, New York. The two-day meet will be hosted by Manhattan College and will be held at the Armory for the 19th consecutive year.
