2022-23 MAAC Women’s Basketball Conference Play to Begin Saturday

Edison, NJ (Dec. 16, 2022) – The Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Women’s Basketball conference schedule begins Saturday, December 17 with a full slate of games. With five games on Saturday and another five on Monday, December 19, all 11 MAAC women’s teams will participate in a conference game in the opening week of action.
 
Saturday, December 17
  • Rider at Canisius – 1 p.m. – ESPN3
  • Quinnipiac at Iona – 1 p.m. – ESPN3
  • Marist at Niagara – 2 p.m. – ESPN+
  • Mount St. Mary’s at Manhattan – 2 p.m. – ESPN3
  • Fairfield at Saint Peter’s – 2 p.m. – ESPN+
 
Monday, December 19
  • Marist at Canisius – 1 p.m. – ESPN3
  • Manhattan at Quinnipiac – 6 p.m. – ESPN+
  • Rider at Niagara – 6 p.m. –  ESPN3
  • Siena at Mount St. Mary’s – 7 p.m. – ESPN3
  • Iona at Fairfield – 7 p.m. – ESPN3

Non-Conference Notables:
 
As conference play is set to start December 17, a few teams are slated to play one last non-conference game this month. Saint Peter’s will face off against the University of Massachusetts on Wednesday, December 21. While on Thursday, December 22, Manhattan is scheduled to play in state opponent LIU and Mount St. Mary’s will squre off against ETSU. 
 
MAAC Standings
 
Four MAAC women’s teams enter conference play with records of .500 or above, with three teams boasting winning records.  At the top of the standings is Siena with a record of 6-4. Following are Iona and Quinnipiac with identical 5-4 records on the season so far. MAAC newcomer Mount St. Mary’s holds a 4-4 record after its non-conference slate. Home Court Advantage
 
When looking at the records for the MAAC women’s teams, they have thrived in home games during non-nonconference play. Mount St. Mary’s boats a perfect 4-0 home record on the season, while five teams all have at least a .500 record at home. Overall, seven teams have recorded at least one home victory thus far.
 
MAAC Teams See Success in MAAC/ASUN Challenge
 
Marist and Rider went a combined 3-1 in the MAAC/ASUN Challenge that took place in Dublin, Ireland. Marist went 2-0 in the challenge, defeating Eastern Kentucky (70-57) and North Florida (61-45). Rider defeated North Florida (76-67) before falling to Eastern Kentucky (64-85).  
 
 
The 2022-23 campaign culminates with the 2023 Hercules Tires MAAC Men’s and Women’s Basketball Championships from March 7-11 at Atlantic City's Jim Whelan Boardwalk Hall for the fourth consecutive year.
