Canisius opened conference play on Saturday with a 74-67 win over Rider at home. Canisius had four players score in double- figures in the contest, led by Vannessa Garrelts 22 points, eight rebounds and five assists. Sisi Eleko recorded 14 points and nine rebounds in the game for the Griffs. Adrien LaMora chipped in 11 points on the day and Dani Haskell had 10 points, eight rebounds and five assists. Rider’s Makayla Firebaugh led all scorers in the contest with 23 points, and Raphaela Toussaint added in 13 points for the Broncs who fall to 0-1 in conference play.

Iona picked up a 57-54 win over Quinnipiac in New Rochelle on Saturday. Ketsia Athias paced Iona with 14 points, eight rebounds and four assists. Juana Camilion added in 13 points and seven rebounds on the day and Kate Mager recorded 13 points on 50% shooting from 3-point territory, including the game winning three with six seconds left in the game to secure the victory for the Gaels. Quinnipiac was led by Cur’tiera Haywood’s 14 points. Jackie Grisdale added in 10 points and two rebounds for the Bobcats in the contest

Marist picked up a 63-55 win on the road over Niagara to begin MAAC competition. Zaria Shazer led Marist with an all-around performance of 16 points, seven rebounds, four assists, three steals and three blocks. Kendall Krick recorded 15 points and six steals in the contest, while Julianna Bonilla added in 15 points and six rebounds. Angel Parker was the leading scorer for Niagara in the loss. Parker recorded 12 points and six rebounds. Maddy Yelle added in 11 points for the Purple Eagles’ and Nickelle O’Neil chipped in 10 points.

Manhattan took down Mount St. Mary’s in its conference opener in a 64-46 outing. Bella Nascimento led all scorers in the contest with 21 points on the day. Dee Dee Davis added in nine points and 10 rebounds for the Jaspers in the win. Jo Raflo led Mount St. Mary’s in the game with 19 points and Jessica Tomasetti added in 12 points and five rebounds.

Fairfield secured the win over Saint Peter’s on Saturday in a 76-49 contest. Callie Cavanaugh led the Stags with 21 points and three rebounds. Mimi Rubino added in 12 points and Brooke Tatarian chipped in 10 points and four rebounds in the win. Jada Williams recorded a double-double with 15 points and 14 rebounds to lead Saint Peter’s. Jada Leonard added in 13 points and Kaylynn Asberry had 10 points in the outing.
