EDISON, NJ (Dec. 22, 2022) – Niagara University’s win over Binghamton headlined Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) men’s basketball out of conference action on Wednesday.

Niagara defeated Binghamton, 73-67, on Wednesday night inside the Gallagher Center to finish non-conference play over .500 for the first time since the 2017-18 season. The Purple Eagles posted a wire-to-wire win, leading for 36:35 in the game. Four Purple Eagles reached double-digits in the scoring column, led by Noah Thomasson's 27. Also scoring in double figures for Niagara was Aaron Gray (13), Sam Iorio (12), and Lance Erving (10). The Purple Eagles close their out of conference ledger with a 6-5 overall mark.

In a game that featured 17 lead changes and 11 ties, the Golden Griffins gave up the game-winning triple with 8.7 seconds left. Five players for Canisius scored in double-figures, led by Jordan Henderson, who had a team-high 19 points. Xzavier Long added 15 points and nine rebounds, while Tre Dinkins chipped in 11 points, and Jacco Fritz and Tahj Staveskie each scored 10 points.

Mount St. Mary's came up just short in a 63-62 loss at Howard on Wednesday afternoon in Washington, DC. The Mount rallied from a double-digit second-half deficit, but Jalen Benjamin missed on the go-ahead layup with under 10 seconds, and Malik Jefferson had a good look in the lane at the buzzer following an inbounds play, but his hook shot came up just short, allowing Howard to escape with the win. Dakota Leffew led the Mountaineers with a career high 23 points while adding six rebounds, five assists and four steals in the game.
