EDISON, NJ (February 18, 2022) – The Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) placed Fairfield’s Lou Lopez-Senechal, Marist’s Zaria Shazer and Siena’s Rayshel Brown to the CoSIDA Academic All-District Team.
The CoSIDA Academic All-District award recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field or court and in the classroom. To be eligible student-athletes must be a starter or important reserve at their current institution with a cumulative 3.30 GPA on a 4.0 scale.
Lopez-Senechal not only found success on the court with a MAAC-leading 19.2 points per game average but also in the classroom supporting a 3.39 GPA as a marketing major. Her 19.2 PPG ranks 31
st in the NCAA. Lopez-Senechal is shooting 45 percent from the field and 39 percent from beyond the arc this season to go along with 4.5 rebounds per game. She has been named MAAC Player of the Week three times this season.
A Psychology major, Shazer is averaging 10.6 points in addition to team-leading averages of 7.7 rebounds and 1.5 blocked shots per game this season. She has totaled four double-doubles this season, and was named Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Player of the Week on Nov. 15. Shazer is a three-time Marist Dean's List honoree, and she was named to the MAAC Academic Honor Roll following the 2020-21 academic year.
A sociology major, Brown carries a 3.48 cumulative GPA. The Staten Island, New York native averages 13.4 points, 5.1 rebounds, 1.5 steals, and 1.4 assists per game. She recently notched her first career double-double, was named the MAAC Co-Player of the Week back on Jan. 31. Currently in pursuit of 1,000 career collegiate points, Brown received a Preseason All-MAAC Team selection prior to the 2021-22 season. She is the first Saint to garner the award since 2008.
