NEW YORK, NY (Feb. 20, 2022) – Monmouth University clinched its fourth straight MAAC Men’s Indoor Track and Field Championship at The New Balance Track & Field Center at the Armory on Sunday night. The Hawks never relinquished the lead following day one of the meet, finishing with a team score of 205. The indoor title for Monmouth was the seventh overall in program history since 2014.

Jalen Jones snagged the Hawks first gold medal of the meet, winning the 400 by a time of 48.59. In the 4x800 relay, Monmouth set a new MAAC standard, finishing in a record time of 7:36.98, done so by the quartet of Tennessee Tremain, James Hoffman, Stone Caraccio, and Louis DiLaurenzio. The Hawks also secured a field gold medal, with Mohamed Diagouraga, winning the triple jump with a jump of 15.04 meters.
Both Iona and Rider joined the Hawks with three total gold medals on Sunday.
Iona’s Ehab El-Sandali won the mile in 4:09.17, Nick Soldevere took the 800 in 1:51.61 and Jadyn Tabois won the 200 in 21.71.
Rider’s duo of Marques Merriweather and Artie Burgess won gold in the 60 meter hurdle and 60 meter dash, respectively, while the 4x400 relay team of James Green, Burgess, Derian Stianche, and Jerome Boyer came in first place.
Also winning gold were Anu Awonusi from Manhattan claiming the shot put with a throw of 16.96 meters and Siena’s Brandon Olden won the 3000 meter race (8:12.55) to give the Saints its only gold of the night.
