NEW YORK, NY (Feb. 20, 2022) – Monmouth University won the 2022 MAAC Women’s Indoor Track and Field Championship at The New Balance Track & Field Center at the Armory on Sunday night. The Hawks led throughout the meet, capping off their title run with a team score of 195. The indoor title for Monmouth was the first since 2019 and the seventh overall in program history since 2014.

The Hawks received their initial gold medal of the night when Ashley Navarro earned a first-place finish in the 800 (2:13.87). Monmouth’s 4x800 relay team featuring Sydney Todd, Keellyn Cummings, Katie Locker, and Ashley Navarro also won gold, breaking the meet record en route to the first-place finsh.
Quinnipiac took home the most golds on Sunday, collecting six total. The Bobcats took three straight track events, winning the 60 meter hurdle, 60 meter dash, and 400, with the trio of Symone Foster, Kalli'ana Botelho, and Aisha Gay securing gold, respectively. Gay then won the 200 for the Bobcats, followed by Mikah Maples’ shot put victory. To cap off the teams six gold medals was the 4x400 relay team of Rylie Smith, Asia Mercier, Britney Del Mundo, and Gay.
The Broncs had a pair get gold. Rider’s first medalist was Allie Riches, winning the pole vault with a height of 3.50 meters and then the Broncs had Mariah Stephens take gold in the triple jump, jumping 11.72 meters.
Gemma Nuttall of Iona got the women’s championships underway with a dominate win in the mile, crossing the finish line seven seconds faster than the next runner with a 4:45.65 time, and Olivia Lomascolo took first in the 3000 meter run, picking up Siena’s only gold of the night.
