Canisius’ Fazzolari, Giese, Monmouth’s Kerwood Earn Rawlings Softball Weekly Awards

 
Player of the Week:
Gianna Fazzolari, Canisius

Gianna Fazzolari hit a home run in each of Canisius' first four games to begin the 2022 season, matching her home run total from the 2021 campaign. In five games, the sophomore drove in seven runs on six hits, while crossing the plate six times.
 
Pitcher of the Week:
Megan Giese, Canisius
So., Buffalo, NY, Orchard Park
 
Megan Giese yielded just two runs across nine innings of work and recorded a win and two saves en route to Canisius' first 3-0 start since 2003. In total, the sophomore appeared in the circle in four of the first five games for the Griffs, posting a 2.27 ERA in 12.1 innings, while striking out 12 batters.
 
Rookie of the Week:
Billie Kerwood, Monmouth
Fr., Glenolden, PA, Interboro
 
Kerwood made two appearances (both starts) in the circle for the Hawks at The Spring Games, posting a 2.92 ERA over 12 innings of work. In her first collegiate start against North Carolina on Saturday, Kerwood tossed a complete game shutout, allowing just three hits while striking out four batters in the 2-0 victory. She picked up another four strikeouts over five innings against Florida Atlantic on Sunday.
