Marist’s Baratta, Canisius’ McGee-Ross, Alfaro, and Fairfield’s Bridgman Earn Softball Weekly Awards

Baratta hit .563 (9-for-16) with a 1.382 OPS (.750 slug, .632 OBP) as Marist went 4-1 at the Hatter Classic this past weekend. She added six runs, five RBIs, three walks, three doubles, and a stolen base while not striking out all weekend. She enjoyed three multi-hit games in Marist's five contests. In Marist's 11-5 win over URI on Feb. 25, Baratta went 3-for-4 with four RBIs, two runs scored, and two doubles. The following day, she reached base safely seven times in two games - going 2-for-2 with two runs scored and two walks in a 10-1 triumph over Harvard, and then 3-for-5 with a double, stolen base, two runs scored, and an RBI in a 9-8 win over URI.

Christie McGee-Ross, Canisius

Christie McGee-Ross had hits in seven of eight games this week, including five multi-hit performances. The sophomore established career highs in hits (3 - done twice in the week), runs (3) and RBI (3). In total, McGee-Ross hit .500 (14-28), scoring seven runs, while driving in 10, in addition to a .562 on-base percentage and a .643 slugging percentage.
Pitcher of the Week:
Allie Bridgman, Fairfield

Allie Bridgman pitched a five-hit shutout against 25th-ranked South Florida as the Stags posted a 4-0 win over the Bulls. She surrendered two walks and struck out one in her complete-game performance. Bridgman also started against St. John's during the South Florida tournament, surrendering six runs, but only one was earned. She struck out three hitters and walked one in her 1.2 innings of work against the Red Storm. For the week, Bridgman owned a 0.81 ERA (1 earned run in 8.2 innings of work) with four strikeouts in her two starts. She also batted .333 with an RBI in the win against #25 USF.
Rookie of the Week:
Saige Alfaro, Canisius
Fr., Chula Vista, CA, Eastlake
Saige Alfaro collected 12 hits in Canisius' eight-game week. Alfaro had three 2-hit performances and one 3-hit game. The Chula Vista, Calif., native scored seven runs, drove in six and had five extra-base hits. Over the course of the week, Alfaro hit .444 with a .464 on-base percentage while slugging .704.
