Siena’s Soures, Niagara’s Messenger and Iona’s Varada Earn TicketSmarter Women’s Lacrosse Weekly Awards

Women’s Offensive Player of the Week:
Mary Soures, Siena
Sr., Rochester, NY, Webster Thomas
 
Soures scored 13 goals on the week - including a new Siena record nine times in Saturday's 21-20 shootout win over the Iona Gaels. Soures broke Siena's single-game record, and stands as one of just three players in the country to have achieved the feat this season. Soures also added four draw controls and three ground balls.
 
Women’s Defensive Player of the Week:
Michelle Messenger, Niagara
Sr., Pittsford, NY, Pittsford Sutherland
 
The reigning MAAC Goalkeeper of the Year returned to form in the Purple Eagles MAAC opener on Saturday, making a season-high 18 saves in Niagara's 13-10 win over Monmouth. The senior also caused two turnovers and collected six ground balls in the win. Messenger finished the week 1-1 with 23 saves.
 
Women’s Rookie of the Week:
Kira Varada, Iona
Fr., Montrose, NY, Hendrick Hudson
 
In Iona's lone game this week Varada notched five goals on eight shots, caused two turnovers and had a team high 11 draw controls.
