NEW ORLEANS, LA (Mar. 31, 2022) – Three Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) men’s basketball players have been selected to participate in the 2022 Dos Equis 3X3U National Championship this weekend at The Sugar Hill in New Orleans during the NCAA Men’s Basketball Final Four. The event is scheduled from April 1-3.
 
Representing the MAAC will be Iona College’s duo of Tyson Jolly and Dylan van Eyck, and Monmouth University’s George Papas. The trio will team up with America East member Hartford’s Traci Carter to form Metro East Mayhem.
 
Jolly was named as the MAAC Player of the Year following his only season at Iona. Van Eyck was the MAAC Sixth Player of the Year this season. Papas is a two-time All-MAAC selection, earning second team honors in 2021 and first team honors this past season.
 
In total, the 64 players, who have chosen to pursue professional basketball opportunities, represent each Division I conference. The 16, four-man teams boast an impressive collection of talent that will make for three exciting days of basketball as teams compete for their share of the $150,000 prize pool. Forty of the 64 players competing in the event earned All-Conference honors this season. Of those 40, 21 earned first-team accolades, four won their league’s Player of the Year award and 20 were recognized as NABC All-District performers. 

Complete rosters, pool assignments and full tournament schedule can be found by clicking the various links at the top of the page. Tickets are not required to attend the Dos Equis 3X3U National Championship. Admission is free and fans are encouraged to come and go throughout the weekend.

Teams will play each squad in their respective pool on Friday and Saturday before all 16 will head to the knockout stage on Sunday, with the top two teams from each pool receiving byes to the quarterfinals. The winning team from each pool play game will win $1,000, victories in the first two knockout rounds will net another $1,000, a quarterfinal win is worth $5,000, a semifinal triumph is another $10,000, while the team that takes home the Tournament title will add $50,000 to their winnings. 

The Tournament will once again receive non-stop coverage via Twitter and on ESPN networks. Every second of the 2022 Dos Equis 3X3U National Championship will be available to a national audience beginning with pool play games on Friday and Saturday, and knockout rounds on Sunday.
