Men’s Track Performer of the Week:
Mael Gouyette, Iona
Jr., Angers, France, Université d’Angers
Junior Mael Gouyette was the top performer for the Gaels at the Virginia Challenge hosted by the University of Virginia. Gouyette finished seventh overall in the 1500-meter event behind six ACC performers in 3:42.13. His Iona personal best and IC4A qualifying time in the event was also the fastest in the MAAC this season by more than four seconds. The time is also the third fastest time in school history, behind a pair of Iona Hall of Famers Tim Bayley (3:41.66) and Brian Roche (3:42.00).
Men’s Field Performer of the Week:
Mohamed Diagouraga, Monmouth
Sr., Trenton, NJ, Trenton Catholic
Diagouraga set a new school record in the triple jump at the Virginia Challenge, posting a mark of 15.57m. That mark is tops in the MAAC by almost two meters and 39th overall in the NCAA this season.
Women’s Track Performer of the Week:
Diamond McLaughlin, Saint Peter’s
Fr., Galloway, NJ, Absegami
McLaughlin was able to capture three gold medals at the Jersey Relays. McLaughlin captured her first victory of the day in the 400 Hurdles with a time of 1:01.93. This time now sets a new collegiate best mark for McLaughlin in the event. It also serves as an IC4A/ECAC qualifying time. The following victories came by way of the relays in the 4x200 and the 4x400. McLaughlin ran the final leg of the 4x200, sealing the victory with a time of 1:44.03. In the 4x400, she ran the second leg, helping to pace the Peacocks to another gold medal with a time of 3:55.07.
Women’s Field Performer of the Week:
Allie Riches, Rider
Jr., Horsham, PA, Hatboro-Horsham
Riches won the pole vault at the Rider Invitational in a new Rider record of 3.88 meters. It is the no. 1 vault in the MAAC by nine inches and an ECAC qualifier.
