2022 MAAC Women’s Rowing Championship Set to Begin Sunday

EDISON, NJ (May 14, 2022) – The 2022 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Women’s Rowing Championship presented by VisitNJ is set for Sunday, May 15 at Cooper River Park in Pennsauken Township, NJ. Nine teams will compete for the conference championship: Canisius College, Drake University, Fairfield University, Jacksonville University, Manhattan College, Marist College, Robert Morris University, Sacred Heart University, and Stetson University.
 
Both the morning and evening sessions will be live streamed on ESPN+. Institutions will compete for the conference's automatic qualifier for the 2022 NCAA Division I Rowing Championship.
 
The MAAC will co-host the conference championship with the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) and the Ivy League. Coverage of the morning session begins at 10:00 am with heats for the Varsity 8s, Second Varsity 8s, and Varsity 4s. Streaming of the afternoon session will start at 1:00 pm, along with coverage of the Varsity 4 Grand Final (1:30 pm), Second Varsity 8 Grand Final (1:50 pm), and Varsity 8 Grand Final (2:10 pm). The awards ceremony will begin at 2:50 pm, following the Varsity 8 Grand Final.

The preseason favorite, Marist College will look to capture their third consecutive MAAC Rowing Championship. The last time the Red Foxes were dethroned was in 2018 when Jacksonville University took home the title. The Dolphins have finished second each of the last two seasons and were picked to finish second in the preseason poll as well.
 
During the regular season, Fairfield University swept MAAC Rowing Boats of the Week three separate times and Canisius College took home the most recent Boats of the Week.
