Monmouth’s McGrath, Siena’s Yanchoris Named Hercules Tires MAAC Student-Athletes of the Week

EDISON, NJ (May 4, 2022) – Monmouth’s Nancy McGrath and Siena’s Chris Yanchoris have been named the Hercules Tires Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Student-Athletes of the Week.

McGrath is a four-year member of Monmouth’s cross country and track and field programs and has been a consistent contributor on the track and in the classroom during her time as a Hawk. The distance runner has posted two new personal bests during the 2022 outdoor season, earning a top-three finish in the Towson Invitational 5000m event (18:21.14) and a top-five finish in the 1500m event at Lehigh’s Carol and John Covert Classic (4:47.29). McGrath currently holds a 3.98 cumulative GPA as a business administration major with a concentration in marketing.

A four-year member of the team currently serving as a team captain, Yanchoris has started each game over the past two seasons, and played every minute in-goal in 2021. The Sykesville, Maryland native currently ranks third nationally in saves per-game (14.43) and fourth in save percentage (.584), while recently surpassing the 200 save mark with 202 total for this year. A two-time MAAC Defensive Player of the Week this season, Yanchoris recorded double-digit saves in 13 of 14 regular season games this season, including a pair of 20-save performances. 

Yanchoris holds an impressive 3.98 cumulative GPA, and is set to graduate this spring with a degree in business. A member of both the MAAC All-Academic Team and MAAC Academic Honor Roll, he posted a near-perfect mark of 3.92 during the Fall 2021 semester.
