FAIRFIELD, Conn. – A fitting end to an illustrious career, Fairfield University women's lacrosse graduate, Kelly Horning was named a 2022 All-American Honorable Mention by Inside Lacrosse Monday morning.
The first player in program history to garner All-American honors, Horning finished second on the team this season in scoring with 39 goals in addition to dishing out 16 assists on the offensive end. Defensively, the graduate midfielder forced a team-best 39 turnovers, led the ground balls totals with 52, and finished second on the team with 63 draw controls.
Horning's five-year tenure as a Stag sees her depart the university with a perfect 11-0 record in MAAC tournament games, helping Fairfield win four consecutive conference championships. She also set program records this season in ground balls with 211 and caused turnovers with 126, while also finishing fourth all-time in draw controls with 159, while leading all active players in Division I in caused turnovers for a career.
A four-time All-MAAC First Team selection, Horning was named the 2022 MAAC Tournament MVP, and the 2021 MAAC Midfielder of the Year in addition to an all-rookie team nod her freshman campaign. She also made the all-tournament team three times in the Stags' four appearances with Horning in the postseason.
