EDISON, NJ (May 5, 2022) – The 2022 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Women’s Lacrosse Championship semifinal round contests are set for Friday, May 6 at Hickey Field in Loudonville, NY on the campus of Siena College.
 
No. 2 Siena (10-7, 6-2 MAAC) vs. No. 4 Fairfield (11-6, 5-3 MAAC)

The first semifinal contest will be a rematch of the past two MAAC Championship title matches, when tournament host No. 2 Siena battles No. 4 Fairfield at 12 p.m. The Saints make their third straight semis appearance after earning an opening round bye and the three-time defending champion Stags earned their 16th trip to the semis dating back to 2006 following a 15-8, wire-to-wire victory in the opening round over No. 5 Canisius last Saturday. When the two met during the regular season on April 9, Siena picked up the 16-11 home victory over Fairfield. Friday’s semifinal matchup between the two schools will be the third all-time meeting in the round and fifth overall playoff game between the programs. Fairfield has won all four of the previous meetings, which include the title games in both 2021 and 2019.
 
No. 1 Monmouth (11-6, 6-2 MAAC) vs. No. 6 Manhattan (11-7, 4-4 MAAC)

Semifinal number two will put No. 1 Monmouth against No. 6 Manhattan. After securing a first round bye, the Hawks are in the final four for the fourth straight season since 2018 while the Jaspers are appearing in the semis for the first time since 2009 after a 16-15 triple overtime victory over No. 3 Niagara in the opening round. Manhattan edged Monmouth 11-10 in double overtime when the teams played on March 30 of this season. This will be just the second contest between the Hawks and Jaspers in the MAAC tournament, with the only other meeting happening last season in the quarterfinals, with Monmouth eliminating Manhattan 15-6.
 
The winners of the semifinals will advance to the 2022 MAAC Women's Lacrosse Championship final on Sunday, May 8. The championship match will also be played Hickey Field and will air live on ESPN+ at 1 p.m.
